How to film a Bestseller - Review of Bestseller

Are you aware of any bestsellers that you have read in your life? Well if you have read one, do write it down in the comment section. By the way, this blog is not a book review, it is a review of a series 'Bestseller' which is based on the novel, "The Bestseller She Wrote" by Ravi Subramanian or I'd rather say inspired from the novel because there are differences between the book and the novel. The plots are almost similar but the story differs.

About the series-
Tahir Wazir is the author of the bestseller novel and his wife, Mayanka Kapoor is a successful advertisement director. Tahir is in search of a story for his new book when his path crosses with his biggest fan, Meetu Mathur who wants to become a bestseller author as well just like him. But this crossing path made the life of Tahir Wazir upside-down along with people who were close to him. What really happened? Was she really a fan or did Tahir do something?
Well, I cannot give the answer can I, because this review is totally spoiler-free.

Review -
Bestseller is a thriller series with a good story followed by average execution and acting. Honestly, when I started watching, I felt the acting was average until Mithun da came who plays the role of Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP), and gave a solid performance. According to me, his character is what is gonna hook you up to the show. The start could have been better. The series gets better after the first few episodes because that's when the thriller starts. As it's a thriller series, you would be expecting good suspense right? Well, I am sure it looked really good on paper because it was poorly executed while filming. You would be able to guess most of the suspense. That's kinda a mood-off or maybe you can take pride in yourself for guessing it or don't, it's actually really easy to guess. I did wish that Shruti who portrayed the lead character Meethu Mathur, could have acted better. Maybe that could have improved the show a little and of course, if the execution was better, the series itself could have become a popular hit because honestly, the story is really good, and even with the average acting and execution, I still binged the show because I really wanted to know what happens next. So what's the conclusion? Should you watch or just pass it? Well, this one kinda depends on you. The biggest positive of the show is Mithun da's acting and the story along with good supporting characters. Well if u can compromise a little on acting and execution, you must give this series a try.

So is the novel and the series the same?
I read the novel "The Bestseller she wrote" around 2-3 years back and when I watched the series, I was clearly able to conclude that it didn't adapt the book. Rather it just was a source of inspiration which can be clearly seen in the plot. There are many differences starting with the most important, the story. The story is very different from the book though as I mentioned before, only the plot is similar. Another is the character's names and backgrounds which are completely different except Tahir Wazir (Aditya Kapoor in the novel), who is the bestselling author but while in the novel Aditya works in a bank, Tahir doesn't works anywhere.

Below is the trailer of the series -
